GT1R R35 Line Lock Kit V2
The V2 GT1R Line Lock Kit utilizes different solenoids, has slightly varied wiring, and different lines than the original kit, but installs nearly identically. Installation pictures will be from the first generation kit and differences in the second generation are corrected. The line lock kit is designed to install with the factory ABS pump and once configured in the ECU will allow the front wheels to be locked making RWD burnouts easier. Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic and the ECU calibration will need to be configured by your tuner in order to ensure proper functionality. The parts list and notes for each is as follows:
- Power Relay - The relay (1) should installed in the driver's side cowl area where the line lock solenoid assembly also mounts, and can be mounted a variety of ways in this location. The ground wire (2) should be bolted to a good chassis ground in the area and the short DTM leads mate to the line lock solenoids. These are not side specific, either connector can connect to either solenoid. . The longer DTM harness will run through the firewall in the factory hole pictured below and connect to the cabin side short harness (3).
- Signal and Power Connector (4) - The signal wire should be crimped either from a ECU ground trigger (5), or a button ground trigger. The jumper fuse should come from a switched 12v power source.
- Line Lock Assembly - The pair of line lock solenoids come installed on the mounting bracket, terminated with the DTM mating connector, and the brake line fittings installed. To ensure no issues with fluid in the system, check all fittings before installing. The -03AN fittings seal without any teflon tape or thread sealant, like any other AN fitting. The 1/8NPT plugs require sealant and should already be applied. The bracket will install in an existing hole on the factory ABS bump bracket, which can be seen below.
- Brake Line Fittings - Four brake line fittings are provided, two will be installed on the ABS pump, and two will be installed on the brass distribution blocks found in both front wheel wells. Both locations can be seen below, and the two brake line fittings will be on the opposite side of the distribution block than the line going directly to the corresponding caliper. Please note which lines you are removing from the ABS pump in order to run the new lines to the correct front wheel. As you can see in the picture above, one fitting is on the top of the ABS pump, and one is on the side. It is important to note which solenoid is going to which wheel, pay attention and make sure to not mix these up. Confirm the line being removed from the top runs to the passenger side wheel well distribution block, and remove line entirely. The line on the side should run to the driver side wheel well distribution block, and should be removed. The OEM grommet the brake line passes through from the engine bay to wheel well can be removed and reinstalled on the new lines.
- ABS Pump to Line Lock Lines - The two matching 18" brake lines are installed between the line lock solenoids and the ABS pump. These lines will install between the ABS pump and the line fittings on the "in" side of the solenoids. The 90° side on the lines will install on the ABS pump fittings and the straight ends will secure on the solenoids. As mentioned previously, do not mix up which lines run to which solenoids. Make sure the solenoid plumbed in to the driver and passenger fittings on the ABS pump is mated to the correct brake line in the wheel wells.
The picture below is of a first generation kit, but you can see how the lines will route in a similar fashion off the bottom of the solenoids to the ABS pump.
- Passenger Side Brake Line - The 60" line will install in place of the factory line that has been removed and installs in the factory clips along the back of the firewall. The straight end installs on the solenoid, and the 90° end installs on the line lock solenoid.
- Driver Side Brake Line - This 27" line will install the same as the passenger side line, the 90° hose end will be on the solenoid and the straight will be on the distribution block.
After all parts have been installed you will need to bleed the brake system and check all fittings for leaks.
